The Bourse de Commerce — Pinault Collection is the latest museum in the network of sites and initiatives developed by François Pinault since 2006. It offers a perspective on the contemporary art collection he has amassed over the past forty years, through a unique programme of exhibitions and events.

The collection, an exceptional ensemble of over 10,000 works by almost 400 artists, features paintings, sculptures, videos, photographs, audio works, installations, and performances. The artists collected by François Pinault come from all over the world and represent every age group. The collection encompasses all fields of creation and reveals the collector’s particular penchant for emerging trends.

This ensemble, dedicated to art from the 1960s to the present day, presents a vision of the art of our times, through the gaze of a passionate art lover, offering a subjective perspective that reflects its era.

The collection is presented through a dynamic programme of temporary and regularly changing exhibitions : thematic displays based on works in the collection, exhibitions dedicated to artists whose works are included in the collection, as well as carte blanches, specific projects and commissions.

The Bourse de Commerce — Pinault Collection has ten exhibition galleries, including a Studio dedicated to video and audio works, as well as freer forms, outreach spaces and an Auditorium for conferences, meetings, screenings, concerts, and events.

The Musée National Eugène Delacroix occupies the painter’s apartment as well as his studio, located in his private garden.

The Société des Amis d’Eugène Delacroix initially rented the studio, then the apartment and the studio. This Société, recognized as working in the public interest in 1934, set as its goal to « guarantee the existence and maintenance » of the buildings and to promote Delacroix’s work. Starting in 1932, it organized a series of exhibitions, concerts, and conferences. When the building was put up for sale in 1952, the Société, concerned with completing its assigned task, sold its collection to the national museums. With the earnings, it was able to acquire the apartment, the studio, and the small garden. It donated all the property to the French government in 1954, with the agreement that a museum would be created.

The museum’s collection contains works from nearly every phase of Delacroix’s career, covering many of his themes. Magdalene in the Desert, exhibited at the 1845 Salon and one of the museum’s major paintings, is a most unusual religious composition, as compared to Education of the Virgin, painted in Nohant in 1842. The museum also boasts the artist’s only three attempts at fresco, which were done in Valmont (1834).

The Jeu de Paume is an iconic cultural institution located in the Tuileries Gardens. It has gained an international reputation as an art centre that exhibits and promotes all forms of mechanical and electronic imagery (photography, cinema, video, installation, online creation, etc.) from the twentieth and twenty-first centuries. It produces and coproduces exhibitions but also organises film programs, symposiums and seminars, as well as educational activities. The Jeu de Paume also publishes a number of art publications each year. With its high profile exhibitions of established, little-known and emerging artists (especially via the Satellite program), this venue ties together different narrative strands, mixing the historic and the contemporary.

Well-known artists (Richard Avedon, Diane Arbus, Garry Winogrand, Philippe Halsman, etc.) as well as emerging figures (Omer Fast, Oscar Muñoz, Helena Almeida, Ali Cherri, etc.) can all be seen in this space that attracts an increasingly large and varied audience each year.

For its quality and scope as well as the range of art forms it encompasses, this collection is the only one in the world to present both Picasso’s complete painted, sculpted, engraved and illustrated œuvre and a precise record—through sketches, studies, drafts, notebooks, etchings in various stages, photographs, illustrated books, films and documents—of the artist’s creative process.

Behind the grand facade of Hotel de Guénégaud, one of the most exciting museum of Paris is hosted in a mid-17th century building designed by the great architect François Mansart. After 2 years of work, it is a completely redesigned space that artistically bridges the gap between past and present. Fans of Deyrolle and Jules Verreaux will rush to the Musée de la Chasse et de la Nature’s stuffed cornucopia of taxidermy, fine art and antique firearms. Inside, the museum’s silk brocade walls, traditional trophies and incredible paintings coexist harmoniously (with a lot of humour) with hidden contemporary art works (by artists such as Jan Fabre, Gelitin or Laure Tixier…) that you will be amused to discover. Here, it is all about the ancient relationship between humans and nature, it’s all about how we feared, hunted, tamed and often mythologized “beasts”. It’s about nature and art.

This atmosphere museum has kept the lure of the bygone-day Nouvelle Athènes quarter townhouses untouched. It once belonged to painter Ary Scheffer and his nephew by marriage Ernest Renan, and became a shrine to writer George Sand, one of the Romanticism’s leading lights. Across the courtyard, you will find the atelier where Ary Scheffer worked – and met Chopin, Liszt, Lamartine, Tourgueniev, Delacroix and other celebrities – from 1830 to 1858.
