The Reminder of the Winds – Le rappel des vents is the first solo exhibition at the gallery by the Luso-Luxembourgish artist Marco Godinho. It brings together a selection of recent and new works, activated in the gallery for the first time. Conceived as an ‘exhibition-poem’, it explores the invisible yet essential flows that pass through our lives: winds, breaths, atmospheres, those shifting presences that connect bodies, spaces, and temporalities.

The project unfolds as a temporary shelter, a secondary home suspended in time, weaving a subtle link between The Infinite House, which is the artist’s own home located by a river on the border between Luxembourg and Germany, and the Parisian gallery. At the heart of this weaving is the street itself, transformed into a ‘river- world’, a geographic and poetic threshold between the two exhibition spaces. A line of passage through which memories, gestures, and the intensities of the world flow.

Near the entrance, the gallery’s street number, 44, is replaced by the number 8 from the artist’s home. Positioned horizontally in both locations, this 8 becomes the symbol of infinity, a subtle

shift that opens up a reflection on dwelling, belonging, and the invisible forces that connect things, places, and distances.
The exhibition extends Un vent permanent à l’intérieur de nous (Les Tanneries, 2023–2024), where the wind, the river, and the surrounding natural elements played a central role. Here again, the works explore notions of porosity and transition between inside and outside, public and private space, individual and collective dimensions.

Every component of the exhibition, whether the space itself, the gallery team, the street, the rhythm of the days, the gestures activated in The Infinite House or arriving from elsewhere, contributes to what museum curator and art historian Thierry Davila calls ‘a poetry of the atmospheric’ and ‘a respiratory experience’.

The Reminder of the Winds invites us to inhabit the world differently: with attentiveness, in motion, attuned to the winds outside and the breaths within.

A dedicated essay by Thierry Davila accompanies the exhibition.

Titled Claude Cahun / Marcel Moore, this show aims to shed light on the exceptional research of Claude Cahun (born Lucy Schwob) who, along with her life partner and half-sister Marcel Moore (born Suzanne Malherbe), anticipated discussions on subjects of extreme relevance to contemporary society, such as gender and identity.

Alberta Pane Gallery is delighted to present the group show Hot and bothered (Nightmares in a bed full of pillows), featuring the work of three international artists: Guendalina Cerruti, Marielle Chabal, and Davide Sgambaro. Gathered together for the first time in a group exhibition, the works of Cerruti, Chabal, and Sgambaro focus on the young generation’s existential concerns. Through various media the artists investigate similar issues, trying to unveil doubts and anxieties linked to an uncertain future. With their practices they attempt to propose new solutions to contemporary society’s disillusions, while using an absurd and sarcastic approach.

Guendalina Cerruti is an Italian artist living in London who presents a vivid, innocent, and everyday universe that explores and resists a defined image of culture and society shaped by algorithms, consumption, and aspirational lifestyles. In the exhibition, she presents new productions and recent works, including Life Is a Rollercoaster, translating a figure of speech into a physical object made of wood and metal scraps. Using phone camera roll and Instagram photos, the sculpture urges us to reflect on the pursuit of an ideal amidst the mirages and distortions pervasive in the digital sphere of social networks.

Marielle Chabal is a French artist, researcher, and director who creates speculative fiction, created in various forms to suit the project, which she also calls “thought experiments”. Her works, driven by collective energy, are devices for understanding the political realities that overwhelm us. They also make us reflect on the commons, eco-responsibility, and a necessary reassessment of the social and political role of art. The scrapbooking-style mood boards and patchwork she presents in the exhibition are the starting point for the QUEENS project, a film that will depict the indelible imprint of patriarchy on our relationship to the feminist-queer world. Davide Sgambaro’s work conveys the malaise and disillusionment of his generation through a variety of media. In Me as Bruce Waine, Peter Parker, Bruce Waine, Peter Parker, etc., the artist presents himself as an anti-hero in a GIF. In Off the Hook! the artist presents a skydancer trapped in a transparent Plexiglass box to denounce the individualism, precariousness, and loneliness we all face. His deliberately cynical works aim to reveal the mechanisms of the capitalist society based on leisure, profit, and competition.

The exhibition is accompanied by a text by Camille Bardin.

G a l e r i e A l b e r t a P a n e i s d e l i g ht e d t o present Mujer, mujer, mujer, a double solo exhibition by artists Regina José Galindo and Iva Lulashi, organized in collaboration with the Prometeo Gallery Ida Pisani.
Regina José Galindo is a Guatemalan visual and performance artist. Her work denounces social injustices linked to racial and gender issues and also focuses on the abuse of power by institutions within our society. Through deliberately disturbing and shocking art, she
seeks to shake up the Guatemalan public, numbed by years of oppression and violence. In the first Parisian space, Galindo presents a
panorama of her historic performances from 1 9 9 9 t o 2 0 2 1 , i n c l u d i n g P i e l ( 2 0 0 1 ) and Punto Ciego (2010), through photographs, videos, and an installation. On the opening day, the artist will also perform a reading of one of her poems. Iva Lulashi is a painter whose work is inspired by the visual culture of the Communist era in her native Albania. In her work, she uses vintage photographs and paintings depicting trivial outdoor scenes, as well as propaganda images, which she mixes with erotic films, blurring the boundaries between genres. The works exhibited in the second space are highly evocative, placing the viewer in the position of a voyeur, spying on female bodies during intimate moments in the middle of nature. Lulashi paints personal, individual stories, often marked by memories of post-adolescent eroticism. For the artist, the nudity of the characters is a way of proving that one can achieve freedom through one’s body, but also of criticizing the strong censorship imposed on Albanians.
As its title suggests, the Mujer, mujer, mujer exhibition focuses on the woman, questioning her place in today’s society, while
denouncing the objectification and violence to which she is still subjected today.

Nos Natures, an exhibition by French artist Marie Denis, with a film realized in collaboration with artist and filmmaker Vladimir Vatsev.
Conceived as an « ethnography of nature » in two chapters, this exhibition features both prints, sculptures, and installations by Marie Denis and a film by Vladimir Vatsev, resulting from a close
cooperation between the artist and the filmmaker. Although generally described as sculptural, Marie Denis’s work takes on a wide variety of forms, with botanical principles as the common thread. Her work reinvents the forms of nature, blending plant specimens and objects transformed by experimentation with materials, and cross-fertilizing artisan skills imbued with
ecological awareness.
For this exhibition, the artist invites us to plunge into her univer se, thr ough her latest explorations of materials, as well as older landmark works that have been redesigned for
the occasion.
The film presented in the second space of the gallery, directed by Vladimir Vatsev, takes us into a dark, hypnotic universe. Here we find the artist’s Masques, worn by silhouettes dressed
in black, crossing and stretching time, whether in forests, industrial or Gallo-Roman sites, and even the famous Palais Idéal du Facteur Cheval.
Created in 2010 during workshops at the École des métiers du Lot in Cahors, the Masques series has since been reinvented on several of
occasions. Hybrid and polymorphic, the Masques take the form of moving sculptures, made from plants and various recycled materials

Curated by Marta Ponsa, this exhibition presents two projects: Luna Park (2018) and Del maiale non si butta via niente (2022). Through photography, video and installation, the works open a dialogue around the notions of control, surveillance and judgment that affect our perception of others, in particular females bodies and the marginalized.

Alberta Pane Gallery is pleased to present Luciana Lamothe’s fourth solo exhibition at the Paris venue.

« Luciana Lamothe’s new exhibition at the Alberta Pane Gallery seeks to take us out of the gallery space. Or perhaps it seeks precisely the opposite: to take us to the other side of the threshold.
The works in the exhibition can be seen as doors/portals communicating various places from inside the body to the public space. They evoke the space outside the body to re-inhabit it after two years of distancing, of avoiding kisses, hugs, and handshakes. To also avoid the clashing protests for the rights of our bodies and those of others, the confrontations with the police, the brutality of repression, the speed of the protesters running through the city, the door of a building that opens to become a hiding place, the red light that filters through the eyes closed by the hands that protect the head from the boots strikes… »

Alberta Pane Gallery is pleased to present João Vilhena’s third solo exhibition in the Parisian venue.

João Vilhena finds most of his subjects by collecting old photos, stereoscopies, and postcards, which play a central role in his work. Postcards and holiday snapshots are therefore bearers of memories, of a saudade, and evoke both the distance and the attachment to a place of belonging. A stereoscopic view* is for him, above all, a scopic impulse. Over the years, these photo-objects have become one of the artist’s field of research of his graphic journey .
João Vilhena’s work is also guided by his interest in the role of the viewer. Indeed, according to the artist, the gaze is what creates and gives a meaning to the artwork. The artist’s drawings, created with extreme precision and accuracy, engage with the viewer, proposing both visual puns, such as trompe-l’oeil and anamorphosis, and word games, such as spoonerisms and anagrams, thus creating a close link between images and words.
Moreover, João Vilhena’s works present a strong erotic charge that can be defined as the impulse that generates the desire to look. According to the words of the artist:
“Whoever produces an erotic image touches, immanently, the issue of representation”. In the context of this research, libido, the scopic and death drive, sacrifice and other
taboos have inspired his work for several years, including the exhibition Erotheism, Sacred Drawing presented in 2015 at Alberta Pane Gallery.
On the occasion of his new exhibition, Beau à la louche, João Vilhena’s drawings enter into a fictional dialogue with the imaginary field that stems from the theme of water. The exhibition is inspired by the absurd thought exercise of Sir Walter Raleigh, who claimed to be able to calculate the weight of smoke by subtracting the weight of the ashes from the weight of the cigar. In the wake of Sir Walter Raleigh thinking, João Vilhena argues that if up to 60 percent of the human body is composed of water and this is renewed by an average of 2.4 liters per day, how much desire is contained in this liquid when we talk about having mouth-watering (L’eau à la bouche)?

Therefore, Sir Walter Raleigh’s theory has played an important role in Joao Vilhena’s new drawings. The latter are inspired by photos of summer vacations at seaside resorts. These images, with sweeping sea views, conceal in themselves moments of carefree serenity.
Happy vacationers show their uninhibited bodies and sometimes dare some acrobatics. Praise of laziness and freedom, these images inspire sensuality and voluptuousness. Some of them get carried away and do not hesitate to kiss in front of the camera. Others seem to
be waiting only for that… In this exhibition, the artist invites us to plunge into an atmosphere at once nostalgic and erotic. Therefore, the artist’s love for enigmas is mixed with written and visual language, ultimately configuring itself as a “cartography of desire”. * Stereoscopic vision is an image-making technique, which conveys an illusion of three-dimensionality, similar to that generated by the binoclard vision of the human visual system.

Alberta Pane Gallery is pleased to present Davide Sgambaro’s first solo exhibition
in its Parisian space.

The exhibition consists of four bodies of work that form a single narrative and explore the limits an individual has when confronted to precarious situations. Using an irreverent tone, Davide Sgambaro invites us to face playful scenarios with sculptures and installations relating to the world of entertainment, idleness and to certain clichés linked to youth.

The installation entitled: Father, forgive them because they don’t know what they are doing, consists of a Sky dancer1. Stuck at the back of the gallery, with its smiley face, the sculpture destroys itself as a result of its friction against the ceiling and the walls. The ideas of impediment and obstacle are then echoed by the sculptures entitled Calcinculo installed high on the wall. These sculptures are inspired on the hard-to-win prizes typical of the so-called Flying Chairs of Italian fairgrounds. The artworks present the objects that one must catch to win the prize during the ride. In these entertainment devices, the technique of Calcio in culo (Kick in the butt) performed by two people allows one to reach the object, grab it, and win the prize which is usually a free ride.

Furthermore, the ability to manage or to find the right strategy to achieve a goal is also present in the work The Bremen Musicians inspired by the namesake fable title written by the brothers Jacob and Wilhelm Grimm and published in 1819. In this fable four farm animals, deprived by their old age of their ability to work, are left to their fate. During meeting by chance on the road, they decide to help each other and find a refuge to survive. In the course of this quest they find a house inhabited by thieves and, joining forces, they stand on top of each other. The thieves glimpse a monstrous figure in the darkness. They think that the house is haunted by monsters and witches and run away, leaving the shelter to the animals. Referring to this fable, the artist presents an image of the Bremen musicians made with a digital collage of emojis. This reference to instant messaging relates to the generations Davide Sgambaro alludes to and to the theme of lack of security and stability2. This idea takes us to the last work in the exhibition: So-so. It is a foam plate normally used for furniture upholstery on which the artist draws a sad face by burning the surface with a cigarette. This burning creates a drawing that visually contrasts with the happy face of the smiliing dancer that keeps on trying to get out of the space before falling down, exhausted.

Despite the smiling characters, the exhibition is a reaction to a precarious life, a narrative portrait of generations in which the adverb NOPE! (no!) seems a repetitive and amusing mantra in response to contemporary needs.

Thanks to the irony always present in his work, which contrasts with a certain melancholy, Davide Sgambaro creates intriguing narrative paradoxes that can depict extreme and precarious situations by evoking memories and common imaginary.

The playful universe, the techniques used and the idea of art as an emotional language are elements that caracterize the work of this artist, who is interested in the creation of a shared vocabulary vocabulary that aims at a unconventional visual communication.

1. Advertising device in the form of a nylon tube driven by an industrial ventilator.
2. Ian Bogost, a media and game designer, assumes a deskilling of human life. He observes how automated technologies (from automatic toilet flushes to text message checkers) intensify a generalized sense of precariousness and unpredictability. Instead of adjusting to human needs, they force people to adapt to the unpredictable logic of machines. The supposed convenience of automated daily life is undermined by our lack of control, our confusion and the passivity to which technology forces us. Ian Bogost, Why nothing works anymore, Atlantic, February 23, 2007, the atlantic.com

* Ilaria Gianni is an independent curator, art critic and lecturer. She is co-founder of IUNO, a research center for contemporary art and of Magic Lantern Film Festival, a research-based thematic investigation of the interstice between visual art and cinema.
She has collaborated with museums, institutions, project spaces and galleries including: Palazzo delle Esposizioni; MACRO; MAXXI and National Gallery, in Rome; Matadero, Madrid; MOA, Seoul; Loop, Seoul; Villa Croce Museum of Contemporary Art, Genoa; John Hansard Gallery, Southampton.

From 2016 to 2020 she was guest curator at the American Academy in Rome. Between 2009 and 2016 she was co-director and curator of Nomas Foundation, where she was responsible for the artistic programming.

Alberta Pane Gallery is pleased to present the third solo exhibition by the Italian artist Michelangelo Penso. In the Paris gallery, the interactive sculpture Human vibe accompanies a series of prints on aluminium, rubber and wood.

Michelangelo Penso’s aesthetics is inhabited by macro and micro-organisms. His work is strongly inspired by scientific iconography, mostly coming from mathematics, genetics, and astrophysics. His artworks, created from industrial materials such as polyester, rubber, resin or aluminium, evoke DNA chains as well as constellations and planetary systems.

Human vibe consists of a small meteorite-like mineral object equipped with a system of touch sensors, which send out sound frequencies according to captured vibrations. By interacting with Human vibe, we can “tune in” to a flow of information emitted by our body, which is normally undetectable for us. Interaction develops by touching both sides of the sculpture, which are coated with tin to enable capturing the electrical response from the skin (GSR). The enclosed technology (microcomputer, sensors, miniature audio systems) processes these signals continuously and makes the sculpture react with sound and vibrations.

Human vibe, located in the center of the exhibition space, is surrounded by a series of paintings (Frequencies) showing astro-seismograms coming from recordings of electromagnetic radiations emitted by three planetary systems (HD 10180, HIP 41378, TRAPPIST-1 ).

Stars, as human bodies, generate vibrations which can be recorded by specific sensors. These scientific discoveries provide today a better understanding of the functioning and composition of astronomical bodies. The exhibition Frequencies attempts to translate the invisible complexity of physical and biological interactions into a perceptible form or language. The artist invites us to become aware of the vibrations sent out by microscopic, human, and astronomical bodies. He encourages us to consider the reactions that these vibrations trigger in the elements that surround us on very different scales. As in a scientific laboratory, this exhibition allows to experience the imperceptible resonances that we produce. It also invites to look attentively at the shapes of the invisible frequencies of stars and planets.

Relations between humans and technological systems take an increasingly significant place in Michelangelo Penso’s latest research. In this context, he proposes us to experience frequencies, which link the infinitely big and the infinitely small: two systems that are invisible to the human eye.
