PANZER – PANE

Galerie Alberta Pane, 14 rue Saint-Claude, 75003 Paris, Tel, 00 33 (0)1 43 06 58 72
September 8 - October 20, 2012

Alberta Pane Gallery is pleased to welcome Fritz Panzer for his first solo exhibition in France. The Austrian artist is above all known for his wire sculptures of every day objects in 1:1 scale.

All throughout his career, Fritz Panzer has followed the same approach in his works with different media. He presents a series of wire sculptures, including the « Pianino » (2010), as well as several drawings and paintings.

In the words of Sarah Heigl (« The Walk In Drawing »): « We have two objects in front of us, which do not complete nor exclude each other, who are no more or not yet the Other (Roland Barthes). (…) By the extension of the drawing into three dimensions, the creation of the ‘walk-in drawing’, our impression is reinforced to be dealing with objects dwelling an intermediate world. »

Fritz Panzer regularly exhibits in international institutions, he has participated in « Neon – Who’s afraid of Red, Yellow and Blue » at the Maison Rouge, Paris, which currently is continued at the MACRO of Rome. David Rosenberg, this exhibition’s curator, accompanies « Doubles » at Alberta Pane Gallery with an essay on the artist.

David Rosenberg is a freelance curator and writer. He regularly organises exhibitions in France and other countries, most recently « Turbulences » at Espace Culturel Louis Vuitton, Paris; he has published numerous works on modern and contemporary art. David Rosenberg teaches Aesthetics and Art History at University Paris 8.
